Central Georgia Technical College

The college has been a part of Macon’s educational landscape since 1962, when it was originally called the Macon Area Vocational-Technical School. Today, it is part of the Technical College System of Georgia and offers technical and vocational studies to meet the needs of employers in a seven-county area.
In addition to offering quality postsecondary education, Central Georgia Technical College also offers several other amenities and services. One of these is a campus-run college fair, where students can learn about career options and post-secondary education. Additionally, the college’s summer athletic camp is facilitated by former National Basketball Association player Sharon Wright.
Mercer University
The history of Mercer University in Macon-Bibp County can be traced back to 1833. It began as the Mercer Institute and later earned university status. It is the oldest private university in the state. Mercer is a private research university.
