The Impact of Crime in Our Lives
Do you feel safe walking late at night along a poorly lit street? No, because you have in mind, the possibility of becoming a victim of a robbery or even harassment. Nobody can fully say that they feel totally safe these days. Crimes have changed the world so much in the past century and have affected lives and even the whole society. People even feel unsafe in their very own homes because criminals know no boundaries anymore. And, crimes are not only happening in developing countries. Sadly, they are even more serious in developed countries. Let us take a look at the different areas in life greatly disturbed by crimes.
How Crime Affects Business
There are three types of criminals that could destroy a good standing business. The first on the list are business employees. This is usually what is termed as the “inside job” where their very own workers commit theft and other premeditated crimes that damage the company and hurt their finance. Stealing is the most common “inside job” that an employee can commit, especially when that person was entrusted with the money of the company. This could easily lead the company into bankruptcy in a subtle way. At most times, this wrongdoing is difficult to detect until the thief had already run away or have spent all the money.
How Crime Affects the Economy and Families
When a city or even a country is reported to have a high crime rate, investors would be discouraged to put up business or deal business with that city or country. When there are no investors, there would be no income for the whole community and there would be no job opportunities. No job opportunities could mean that there would be poorer families and others might be forced to steal just to feed the family. Everything goes back into a cycle especially when it is the primary needs that have been deprived of society.
How Crime Affects Tourism and Education
What could have been a perfect day of summer vacation can turn out to be one of the gruesome experiences any tourist can have if there are a lot of culprits hanging around. Yes, we can never underestimate the impact of crimes in the tourism industry because when a tourist spot is infested with criminals, it puts at stake the safety of the tourists. Higher crime rates mean lesser tourist population. Sadly, criminals might not only attack tourist spots but would even raid schools and claiming hundreds of innocent lives. Many students have also been victims of terrorism that only increase the discouragement of many youths to enter a certain university just because of a terrorism experience.
How Crime Affects Society
What’s disturbing about crimes affecting society is that its effect is not only limited physically but also negatively inflicts emotions and the mental state of the residents living around where a crime has happened. Many are disturbed by the different crimes being flashed in the news each night. People start to feel unsafe and everyone starts to stop trusting each other. That weakens the whole society and suppresses progress. No one could really deny the negative effects of crime in all aspects of our lives today. Wherever you may be, you are never exempted.
